Under my Skin Series: She Stares, You Can’t Stare Back

She stares into oblivion. She stares deep into you. Can you stare back Can you see her?

 She stares into oblivion.
She stares deep into you.
Can you stare back?
Can you see her?

Her coffee colored pain.
Her parted lips.
Her triumphs, her stains.
Her favorite moments.
Her laughter in her own heartbreak.

She can laugh
when she wants to cry.
She can love
only God knows how or why.
She can break apart completely
and still be repaired.
She can dance and sing
and no one can be compared.

She sees things in wonder
like a child at a fair.
Yet, has the strange foresight
of an angry ornery bear.

She stares again deep into you
she sees your truths,
but you underestimate her gifts.
You underestimate how much she cares for you
Just how much she is willing to give.

You don’t understand her
because you can’t see her
for who she really is
and she’d rather be alone,
than not be truly seen.
